down to last chorus in Next Time Around

down to last chorus in Next Time Around

Steve recorded a bunch more of the keyboard parts for Next Time Around yesterday, getting right up to the last chorus. Although he had hoped to complete the whole song in yesterday’s session, there ended up being more to arrange in the chorus than we realized during rehearsals, so we thought it best to work on the parts and try a few different keyboard patches out for a few days first. Although it hasn’t been firmly decided, we may be using a vintage MicroMoog for that last chorus. Everything is sounding really good with all the keyboard parts anyway, and we’re looking forward to hearing it when it’s completed.

Jam on Monday

Jam on Monday

We got together on Monday to work primarily on the keyboard parts for the I, Awake intro. Things went pretty well and we put together a bunch of different ideas for what Steve may be playing in this section. As with most of our writing, we didn’t actually finalize everything yet, as we prefer to work through a (sometimes large) number of ideas to see what will work best in any given section. After a couple of rehearsals doing this, we generally settle into some agreement as to what we’re keeping and what we’re not, then we move on from there.

We also hope to get more Next Time Around keyboard parts recorded this week.

On a side note, tomorrow is Remembrance Day here in Canada, and the band would like to invite all its fans and followers to keep our servicemen (deceased and living) and veterans in their thoughts and prayers.

Still more Next Time Around keyboard parts recorded

Still more Next Time Around keyboard parts recorded

Steve spent a little more time recording keyboard parts for Next Time Around on Friday this week. We’re inching ever closer to having the keyboards in that song complete, and hope to wrap them up soon.

We also plan on working on some keyboard parts for the I, Awake intro this week at rehearsal.
