Minstrel vocals and guitar done

Minstrel vocals and guitar done

Kevin Minstrel Matt Minstrel

With Matt Broadbent’s bass parts complete, Chris Rupert was able to record vocal and guitar parts for the mammoth song Minstrel in the Corner. Guitar parts were completed earlier this week, and some great performances were captured. A huge chunk of this song is now complete, and the band is looking forward to finishing it in its entirety and getting a decent rough mix to listen to. Their wait shouldn’t be long, as there is now only a handful of keyboard parts and some backing vocals left to record.

In the meantime, the band has been busy working on some of the new material at rehearsals. The next song we’ll be recording is The Lost Journal,  and we more or less finalized the last of the drum parts for it. We should be able to schedule some recording for drums sometime in the next month or so, depending on how the rest of the summer goes. We also worked on Sex for Sale (which is more or less finished) and the most recent addition Dark Matter. Readers may remember that  a great deal of progress was made on the intro at the last rehearsal, where Kevin came up with some very cool drum parts. More time was spent on working out the bass parts this week, and we’re hoping that we’ll be moving into the next section of that song very soon.

The recording of Minstrel in the Corner is moving right along, with bass player Matt Broadbent completing his tracks last night. There were some great performances and equally great tones (along with a first take or 2) laid down. We’ll take a few days to get these tracks organized and roughly mixed, then recording for keyboards, guitar and vocals can begin.

Guitarist Chris Rupert and drummer Kevin Tetreault got together earlier this week and got a good deal of the drum parts for the intro of Dark Matter straightened out. This is turning out to be a really cool tune, and we’re looking forward to piecing the rest of it together. With most of Minstrel in the Corner now out of the way, the band will focus on completing the writing and arranging of The Lost JournalSex for Sale, and Dark Matter before starting the remaining 2 songs for the next album.

Minstrel drums done, new review online

After nearly a week of hard work, Kevin has finished the monumental task of recording the drums for Minstrel in the Corner, finishing on Monday night. Although time consuming, the tracking went fairly smoothly and we got some great drum performances of this epic song.  With this most labour intensive instrument in the band to record completed, the attention will shift to recording bass tracks, which we hope to begin next week.

In other news there’s a nice review of the first album at the Prog Rock Music Talk website by Jim Lawson of The Ancient One radio show fame, and Falling Edge has inexplicably moved to ReverbNation‘s #1 position in the Rock charts for Chatham, ON. WooHoo!!
