Falling Edge

All of the guitar parts for what is likely the last song of the upcoming album are now finished, as guitarist Chris Rupert completed recording a couple of days ago. This means that there are only a few small keyboard parts to record and the vocals, and all the recording will be complete. As stated in an earlier post, the plan is to have all the recording done by the end of the summer, and it looks like things are moving nicely toward that goal.

The last few weeks have seen a lot of activity as the end of recordings draws near. Chris finished recording all the acoustic guitar parts for Convergence at Fossil Falls this week, which means that song is now complete and ready for mixing, a process that began a few days ago. Drums, bass, keyboard, and acoustic guitar have also been completed for The Sniper, the Piper and Me, which means only a few electric guitar parts and the vocals are left and the recording stage for this album will be finished up. The plan is to get all the recording and most of the mixing finished up by the end of the summer, but we’ll see how it goes…

As an interesting side note, Falling Edge guitarist Chris Rupert has been selected to perform at the After Hours Electric Prog Jam at this year’s Cruise to the Edge sailing from Miami. The song list and the songs he’ll be performing on have not been finalized, but those interested can keep track of things here. The progress of the event will also be updated at the AHEPJ Facebook page.

Sorry about the long gaps between posts, but things have been pretty busy around here, with a lot of time being devoted to practicing and perfecting those pesky Dark Matter guitar parts. On that note, I’m happy to announce that after a grueling marathon recording session, the guitar parts for Dark Matter are finally done, as are the electric guitar parts for Convergence at Fossil Falls. The former is now nearly ready to be mixed, and that process will begin this week. Chris is currently now working on the acoustic guitar parts to Convergence at Fossil Falls as well as the overall arrangement of what will likely be the final track for this outing, The Sniper, the Piper, and Me. For those interested, Chris’s parametric EQ has been completed and was featured on the recordings done this past weekend.
