Sad to hear about the death of Allan Holdsworth – another great loss to music lovers. I remember the 1st time I saw Allan at a small club in Detroit; I spent the 1st half of the show depressed and wondering why I (or anyone) would even bother playing the guitar when someone like Allan was doing the amazing things he was doing and creating the most brilliant music. By the 2nd half, I got over feeling sorry for myself and was newly inspired to practice and work ever harder to try to achieve the level of excellence that Allan had. Allan was one of those guys who showed what could be done, and played without limits or boundaries. He was a fantastic musician and for the reasons stated above a great influence on and inspiration to me. My prayers go out to him and his family. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
