Last Song finally done!! – also a Christmas song/album preview for you

Well, at long last the final song for the next Falling Edge album is complete. At over 27 minutes long, it’s been a long haul to get it finished, but it sounds great, and we’re really looking forward to recording it and getting it out. Rob and I will likely wait until after Christmas to begin recording again, but hopefully we’ll be able to get things moving more quickly in the new year.

Speaking of Christmas, I’ve decided to include a new recording of a Christmas song I released as a solo artist a few years ago. Here’s the original recording:

Also, as a follow up to our last post, I’m happy to announce that I was awarded 2nd place in the Independent Prog Awards multi-instrumental category for 2019. I’m told that there was actually a tie for first, and that a tie-breaking vote needed to be called to come up with a winner. I was in the chat room the night of the awards and the music/musicians I was up against was top notch, so I’m humbled and honoured to have received this award. Thanks to all who voted for me and listened to the music.

Chris Rupert interview, Last song progressing well

Background Magazine, who posted a review of FE3 (you can read about that in our Sept 12 post) have recently published an interview with Chris Rupert, where he discusses the concept and composition of the new album. Check it out here.

Also, work on the last song for the new album is moving along well, and the few weeks or so have been spent touching up some details and working on lyrics. It won’t be much longer before this one is done…

FE3 review, last song nearly complete

FE3 review, last song nearly complete

Sorry for the long absence, but I’ve been pretty busy working on the last track for the upcoming CD. As promised, it will indeed be epic; the general outline of the song is now a little under 27 minutes long. It may be a bit longer than that when the dust settles, but the bulk of the writing is pretty much done. I’m enjoying the work I’m doing on this (crazy ambitious) work, but I’m also looking forward to hearing it in its completion.

Also, Background Magazine has just printed a review of FE3. If you want to check it out it can be found here. I also did an interview with this magazine, and I’ll post here when it’s published.

Epic…

Epic…

I just wanted to update everyone on where we are with this last track: as hinted at in our May 25 post, this last track will indeed be an epic one. I’ve been working on its various parts, and although I’m currently hovering around the 14 minute mark, it doesn’t feel like it’s quite ready to end just yet.

Looks like this one’s going to be a long one…
