Final Dissent vocals recorded, R. I. P. Alan White

Final Dissent vocals recorded, R. I. P. Alan White

This post is a little late in coming, (I took a short vacation over the last week) but I finished recording the lead vocals for the 27 minute plus Final Dissent a couple of weeks ago. I have also been spending a fair amount of time mixing the song, which is no small task – trying to keep a consistent sound over 27 minutes of music of various tempo, volume, and tone changes requires a fair amount of juggling. The good news is that the mix is very close to completion, and I’ve been working on the harmony vocals as well, so the song (and therefore the album) is nearly complete!

On a more somber note, and as I’m sure many of you have already heard, we were saddened to hear of the passing of Yes drummer Alan White, and extend our sympathies and prayers to him and his family.

May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

Bass Parts done and recorded

Bass Parts done and recorded

We’re inching ever closer to completing Final Dissent (and with it the album), as I recorded all the bass parts last week. It’s been quite a haul, but all we have left to do is record vocals and mix the song. From that it seems like we should be wrapping things up fairly soon, and that would be the case, if the song weren’t in excess of 27 minutes in length. It is nice to be in a position where we really have only a couple of things to focus on, though.

As always, we’ll keep you posted as to our progress.

Well, it’s been a long haul, but I finally got all the keyboard parts for Final Dissent recorded – just finished the last little bit a few minutes ago. I’ve also been steadily working on the bass parts, so it shouldn’t be long before those are recorded also. This has been such a long project to work on; I must confess it feels kinda strange when I think that, before too long, it will come to an end…
