Drums for For Final Dissent Are Done

At long last, we finally got the drums for Final Dissent recorded last weekend. The session was a bit grueling, but I guess that’s kind of to be expected when you’re recording 17 minutes worth of drums. As usual, Rob did a stellar job and the tracks sound great.

Since then, I’ve been hard at work recording and practicing guitar and keyboard parts for this last section of this epic song. The guitar and keyboard for the 1st 15 min or so of the song have already been completed, so I’ll be able to focus on this last section more intently now.

As usual, we’ll keep you posted as we progress…

More Album Progress

Just wanted to make a quick post to let everyone know how the album is progressing. You may remember from our previous post that Rob had recorded drums for the first half of Final Dissent. At that time, the plan was to have all the drums recorded by the end of the summer, but unfortunately Rob got a pretty nasty gash in his left hand index finger (“my snare finger, man”), so we’ve had to postpone any further drum recording until that heals up. In the meantime, I’ve been working on recording various instruments and vocals for the other songs. We’re now at a point where pretty much everything is done except for some harmony vocals (that Rob should be recording soon, now that his finger has him out of commission), and, of course, the leviathan Final Dissent. This should give you a clearer idea of what we have left:

    1. Arcane Knowledge – some backup vocals still left to record
    2. Just One More Wish – finished
    3. What Are You Waiting For? – finished
    4. Not Everyone’s Cup of  Tea – some backup vocals still left to record
    5. Whatever Happened to Christmas? – finished
    6. Final Dissent – drums recorded for 1st half, along with guitar and keyboard parts for the first few minutes

More of the guitar and keyboard parts are being recorded weekly, so it shouldn’t be long before I’m caught up with Rob. We’ll keep you posted as we continue to progress.
