Minstrel in the Corner recording started

Minstrel in the Corner recording started

Chris spent most of yesterday recording guitar parts for Minstrel in the Corner, which will appear on the next Falling Edge release. Most of the recording went well, but things got bogged down when Chris’ 1980’s era Carvin X100B head started acting up. Although his main amp is now a Carvin V3 Micro, he prefers the X100B  for clean tones. Near the end of the session, the volume started dipping (sometimes drastically) causing him to have to re-do several takes, but in the end he got some great tones and finished all the clean guitar parts in the song. Although he’s yet to record his heavy tones with the V3M (all of the guitar tracks on the debut Falling Edge CD were recorded using the X100B),  Chris reports looking forward to unleashing it in the studio. Steve’s up next, and hopefully we’ll get some keyboard tracks laid down in the next week or so.

Minstrel in the Corner done! (?)

Minstrel in the Corner done! (?)

We got a lot accomplished earlier this week at rehearsal. After months of working on (and being interrupted from working on) Minstrel in the Corner, we’re happy to announce that we’ve pretty much finalized the arrangement of this song, which will be featured on our next album. When we reach this stage in a song, it’s always considered “almost complete” because we continue to rehearse it, and we always stay open to the possibility that there may be further improvements to be made. For now, though we’re all feeling pretty happy with the current arrangement.

The band also spent time going over some cover material that we’ll be playing at our upcoming Nov. 30 show. More on that later.
