Solid rehearsal last week

Solid rehearsal last week

The band had a good solid rehearsal last week, spending most of the time finalizing (you guessed it) Minstrel in the Corner. We tend to work all of our songs into the ground, trying out various arrangements and options, and this one has been no exception. It’s gotten to the point now where we just need to chart out what we’re doing where and then practice all the tough bits so that everything flows smoothly. We’re hoping to have the former taken care of by week’s end. Steve and Chris have also discussed recording plans and hope to start that up before September is out.

Review in upcoming issue of Progression magazine

Falling Edge been informed that our debut release is going to be reviewed in the next (September) issue of Progression magazine. If you haven’t had the opportunity to read Progression now’s a good time to try it – it’s a great magazine covering all things prog (no, none of us are related to the publisher…)

The band spent more time working on getting a final arrangement of Minstrel in the Corner at rehearsal last night, and we’re inching ever closer to its completion. This song has a lot of changes (with some particularly tricky timing issues) and each of them has to be ironed out so that we get them to sound just right. Hopefully the dust will all have settled in the next couple of weeks or so.

We were also able to get a good runthrough of The Lost Journal, which we began working on in late July. As mentioned in a  previous post, this one’s a lot less complex than some of our other songs and should take a lot less time to get arranged.
