New Song at Rehearsal

New Song at Rehearsal

The band continued its work on the songs we’re planning to record in the near future, with Kevin unveiling his new drum parts for an extended guitar/keyboard solo section in Minstrel in the Corner. Kevin reports that the drums are virtually complete for that song now, and plans to tighten everything up on his end before recording in a week or two.

We also began work on another new song, this one entitled Dark Matter. The intro to this piece should be a blast (once we get it going…), with its numerous time signature changes (mostly moving from 4/4 to 12/8 and back). We only had time to just scratch the surface, but it promises to be a good one.

You may recall that Steve went under the knife a few weeks back to help correct some issues with his injured leg. We’re happy to report that he’s doing quite well, and expects to be up and running again within the next month or so. In the meantime, the remaining Falling Edge members will continue to rehearse, while keeping Steve apprised of new developments. We also hope to be able to use this opportunity to get some drums and bass recorded for Minstrel in the Corner.

Falling Edge would also like to give a shout out and big thanks to Anne at EGH Live Radio in the UK for airing Not That Far Away yesterday on her show. Thanks for your support Anne!

Pre production for Minstrel in the Corner

Pre production for Minstrel in the Corner

Chris and Steve spent some time last week in pre-production for Minstrel in the Corner, going through different keyboard patches and trying to decide which to use in the recording of the song. The band has also been continuing its work polishing up Minstrel in the Corner, The Lost Journal, and Sex for Sale at rehearsals. Everything is now pretty much in place to start recording Minstrel, with Kevin just needing a little more time to finalize and perfect his drum parts. With any luck, we’ll have the drums recorded sometime in the next month.

You may recall that Steve was in a motorcycle accident a few years ago, and has suffered a fair amount of pain in his leg as a result. Because of some complications, he’ll be going in for surgery tomorrow, which will hopefully correct some of the health issues he’s been suffering. He’ll be out of commission for an unknown amount of time while he recovers, and we ask you to keep him in your prayers. The rest of the band will continue to rehearse and hopefully get some recording done in his absence.

Review in Progression mag; vote for Falling Edge in CBC Searchlight

Progression Magazine has released its long awaited Autumn/Winter issue, featuring William Shatner on the cover. Also of interest in this magazine is a nice review of the debut Falling Edge album. Reviewer David Taylor gave an enthusiastic review, and awarded it a 14 out of 16 potential points. Aside from this obvious selling point, this is a fine magazine with lots of great stories and reviews for the progressively minded music aficionado.

Falling Edge has also been entered into CBC’s Searchlight Competition. Fans can vote for up to 10 bands per day until April 6, and you can show your support by voting here.
