FE3 review, last song nearly complete

FE3 review, last song nearly complete

Sorry for the long absence, but I’ve been pretty busy working on the last track for the upcoming CD. As promised, it will indeed be epic; the general outline of the song is now a little under 27 minutes long. It may be a bit longer than that when the dust settles, but the bulk of the writing is pretty much done. I’m enjoying the work I’m doing on this (crazy ambitious) work, but I’m also looking forward to hearing it in its completion.

Also, Background Magazine has just printed a review of FE3. If you want to check it out it can be found here. I also did an interview with this magazine, and I’ll post here when it’s published.

Epic…

Epic…

I just wanted to update everyone on where we are with this last track: as hinted at in our May 25 post, this last track will indeed be an epic one. I’ve been working on its various parts, and although I’m currently hovering around the 14 minute mark, it doesn’t feel like it’s quite ready to end just yet.

Looks like this one’s going to be a long one…

Drums recorded, writing progressing

After a brief studio hiatus, we tracked the drums for another song for the next Falling Edge release this past week. Rob was on target on Wednesday night, and if it weren’t for a minor technical issue, would’ve have pretty much nailed this one in one take. The piece is an as yet untitled instrumental.

On the writing front, Chris has embarked on what may be the last song on this album. The current plan is to write an extended (read: 20 minutes or so) song, but this isn’t set in stone, and we’ll have to see how things pan out.

Here’s a couple of photos from the Wednesday night session:
