Falling Edge

Rob and I spent Tuesday evening into the wee hours of Wednesday morning recording drum tracks for Gone, the next song on the new Falling Edge album. There’s some pretty complex timing in this one, so it took a little longer than usual, but the extra work paid off, and the new drum tracks sound great. We also had an abnormal number of technical snafus to fight through, which always keeps things interesting. Rob’s going to take a few days to enjoy what’s left of the summer before deciding which song to work on next while I prepare to record the guitar, bass, vocals and keyboard parts for Gone. I’m hoping to tackle those things in the next month. Enjoy the last precious few days of summer everyone.

Sorry about the lack of updates here lately, but there really hasn’t been too much to report, as Rob and I have been mainly practicing new material on our respective instruments. I got a chance to do some recording last weekend though, and I spent most of it holed up inside laying down guitar parts for I Will Not Comply and Seventeen, both of which will appear on the next Falling Edge album. Recording went well and the tracks sound great. We now have the bulk of 3 of the 7 songs from the next album recorded, and Rob and I should be getting together in the coming week to discuss and arrange some drum parts for the next song, Gone.

Rob recorded the drum tracks for I Will Not Comply (which will be included on the upcoming Falling Edge album) earlier this week. This brings the total number of songs that have complete drum tracks to 3. We’re almost at the halfway point now, as there are 7 songs slated for this next release. Of these, 1 is complete and is awaiting final production. I also finished the bulk of the keyboard parts for I Will Not Comply and plan to start recording vocals and guitar for this and 17 (the other song with completed drum tracks) in the next few weeks.

On (yet) another sad note, we’re sorry to hear of the passing of Chris Cornell. As you know, Chris was a fantastically talented singer and musician, and he’ll be sorely missed. My prayers go out to him and his family. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
