Falling Edge

Sorry about the long gaps between posts, but things have been pretty busy around here, with a lot of time being devoted to practicing and perfecting those pesky Dark Matter guitar parts. On that note, I’m happy to announce that after a grueling marathon recording session, the guitar parts for Dark Matter are finally done, as are the electric guitar parts for Convergence at Fossil Falls. The former is now nearly ready to be mixed, and that process will begin this week. Chris is currently now working on the acoustic guitar parts to Convergence at Fossil Falls as well as the overall arrangement of what will likely be the final track for this outing, The Sniper, the Piper, and Me. For those interested, Chris’s parametric EQ has been completed and was featured on the recordings done this past weekend.

Still working away at these guitar parts for Dark Matter, but it shouldn’t be long now. Meanwhile, Convergence at Fossil Falls is well underway, with the drums, keyboards, and vocals all recorded. Some of the bass is already done for this track as well, and the guitar parts are ready to go too, so once Dark Matter is done, Convergence should follow not long after. For the gear nuts out there, Chris has also finished designing a 5 band parametric EQ to insert into his amp’s effects loop to fine tune his tones. The plan is to have it built and in use by the time he records Dark Matter.

The bass and drums for Dark Matter are now complete and have been recorded. The bulk of the keyboard (including pipe organ!) parts are also done and recorded, with only a few small parts left to record. Since this one’s an instrumental, the only thing left to do now is record the guitar parts. Most of these are ready to go, but there are some (very) difficult passages in this song, so it may take a while before the guitar gets recorded in its entirety. Hopefully these will come together in the next few weeks, during which time I’ll start picking away (no pun intended) at the tentatively title track of this release, Convergence at Fossil Falls.
